What Is It?
This simulation redefines the classroom by incorporating an unprecedented video format that guides the activity in real time for over 1-1/2 hours, immersing you in an airport environment and plot. You will be out of your seat and active as you work with your group to successfully prepare a plane for departure.
The team’s challenge is the one faced by employees of Just-in-Time Airlines. They are at a gate working together trying to clear a plane for departure. The team’s goal is to get the plane out safely, on time, and with as many passengers and suitcases as possible. The challenge builds through changing conditions providing the opportunity to see you and your teammates' authentic responses to stress. Complications arise as video characters “come to” the team with problems that require decisions that will affect the safety, timing, and cost results – both in the short-term within the exercise as well as in the long-term through the debrief.
The true learning begins after the exercise as the facilitator walks back through the decisions that were made and how those decisions might be reflected in bottom-line performance. Individuals are asked to take responsibility for decisions and the subsequent consequences. The result is learning what you did right and what to do differently when faced with similar situations back on the job.
The session wraps up with a 360 team survey of each person’s performance in specific behavior categories. You will leave with a new understanding of how you react to stress, what behavior areas to focus on for improvement, and resources to help you make those improvements.
